Scott Ball

Dr. Ball has been the dean of the school of music since 2000, and also teaches string bass lessons, music theory classes, the music history sequence, and music in the U.S. He is a brilliant musicologist and studies music of 19th and 20th century England and America. He previously taught at Atlantic Union College from 1990-2000 where he was chair of the music department. In 1996, he received the Zapara award for excellence in teaching and was named Professor of the Year by the AUC student association in 2000. Always make sure you study for his tests and quizzes, they are not always a "walk in the park". He knows his stuff well and expects good study habits from students, but he is always willing to help you when you need it. Being head of the department, he can get very busy, but is never too busy to help anyone.
