River Walk
From SAUwiki
Similar to the Greenway, but in Chattanooga's Art and Historical Districts. All along the way there are picnic tables, grassy spots,and/or points of interest. The last 3/4 of a mile or so are in the old part of town and you go past the Art District, eventually ending up near the Aquarium. From here you can go through the old part of town, see the Aquarium, or cross the bridge to Coolidge Park.
Watch the maps posted along the way since once you get into the Art District the route becomes less distinct. Or take a city map with you. Enjoy!
Project for Public Spaces report on the River Walk
Some River Walk pictures--This site is one that offers a paid tourguide service along the RiverWalk. The link is here because it has great pictures--don't think you have to take a guide to walk here. It is a free city park, and a great one at that. :D
Directions to the River Walk:
From Collegedale take 75 South to Highway 153
Take 153 West to the Amnicola Highway exit and get off. Go South/West-ish
You should see signs every little way for pull offs. You can park several places along the park and have a picnic, or start at the beginning and walk, blade, or bike to the Aquarium. There are reportedly about 8 miles or so of pathways that make a small network. You can do as much or little as you wish.
This is a really good place to go, very very nice in the fall time.
